The Singita Community Culinary School provides talented youths from the Mnisi, Amashangana, and Jongilanga Trust areas the opportunity to pursue an exciting career as a chef. Through this comprehensive one-year programme and six-month internship, students will graduate with an internationally recognised City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery, as well as WSET Level 1 Wine, Fire, and First Aid Level 1 Certifications. Our proven track record demonstrates that intensive theoretical and practical training, followed by in-situ work experience, prepares students optimally for the reality of taking up commis chef positions in high-end lodges, hotels, and restaurants, or starting their own catering businesses.

Terms & Conditions

Accommodation is provided for the duration of the academic course on site
Internship Placement: The 6-month internship may be at hotels or lodges within South Africa
Financial Accountability: You will be required to repay the stipend if you do not successfully complete the course and internship

The Singita Community Culinary School Offers

Learnership consists of theoretical and practical training with significant practical experience in Singita’s lodge kitchens
Uniform and equipment
Accommodation and meals at Singita Kruger National Park (SKNP)
Transport to and from SKNP for leave cycles
6-month internship experience at industry partner lodge kitchens

To Be Eligible To Apply You Must

Be able to showcase passion for culinary arts/cheffing
Be between 18 and 35 years of age
Reside in the Mnisi, Amashangana or Jongilanga Trust area
Have a National Senior Certificate (‘Matric’)
Be competent in spoken and written English
Have solid numeracy/mathematics skills
Have sound understanding of computer literacy and online learning
Be willing to work hard and be on your feet for long hours
